David Deacon-Jones- The Greatest Pass Rusher of All Time

Back in the day when Deacon-Jones played stats were not being followed yet, and if they did have stats Deacon-Jones would have the most sacks in a season with 26 sacks in 1967!! He also had two other years with 20+ sacks. He soon got the nickname "The Sacks Man" because he could easily take down a QB, even after he fell down.

Deacon-Jones was not only famous for his Sacks but he was also famous for his head slap. Which is when he slapped the man on the line with his hand making him shut his eyes giving him enough time to demolish the QB. He was able to move so fast threw the pocket it was almost impossible to stop him from reaching the QB.  His career total for sacks would be 180.5. In 1967 and 1968 his total sacks for those to seasons combined would be 50!!!!! But remember that would only have been 28 games in which he had a total of 50 sacks. He was averaging over those two seasons 1.8 sacks per game. That is an almost impossible feat at the NFL level today.

He was easily one of the baddest dudes in football history of all time. He had an amazing career. He was a very clever man that could hit and run very hard. To bad he only played 13 years he could have easily had the most sacks in football history if he played as long as Bruce Smith or Reggie White. But he still would have been third on the all time Sacks list if they counted stats during his 13 year career.
