REVENGE: Rematch of Nebraska vs Texas

Why is this called REVENGE?
If you had not seen the Big 12 Championship game in 2009, it was one of the greatest. Undefeated Texas took on the underdog 9-3 Cornhuskers. The Longhorns were stopping Nebraska from moving the ball all day, which was the same with Nebraska. With 1 second left Colt McCoy threw the ball out of bounds, and gave the Huskers the victory. BUT WAIT! A last second decision by the refs to review the time on the clock (which is not allowed) was made, and Texas got the ball back with 1 second, and made the field goal to win it.

This Saturday there is a rematch of these two teams, the undefeated ranked 5th in the nation Cornhuskers, taking on the rebuilding Longhorns.

Who will win and why?

This game will NOT be a close game. This is coming from a biased source, but there are facts to back it up. Nebraska has the best pass defense, with 11 interceptions, facing a passing Texas offense. Nebraska has the Big 12 leader in tackles Lavonte David. Nebraska's D line cannot be condoned after losing Ndamukong Suh, as they have Jared Crick, who is 6'4 290, faster, and maybe just as good. Forget defense, Nebraska has Taylor Martinez (in the photo above) is fifth in the nation in rushing yards. He also leads the nation in yards per carry average. The freshman from Corona, California could be the next Eric Crouch, who ended up to win the Heisman Trophy. Rex Burkhead and Roy Helu have both made big impacts on Nebraska's running game. Passing for the Huskers is the problem, Martinez can pass, but throws 7-11 passes per game. He also has great receivers in Niles Paul and Brandon Kinnie, but doesn't use them to pass to. Texas on the other hand, is having problems, they are putting up close games to teams that should be completely inferior to them. They have lost their record-holding quarterback Colt McCoy, as he's in the NFL, and his primary receiver. Sergio Kindle on their defense left, as did Earl Thomas, who were both top picks, and these were the impact players that brought them to the National Championship game.

Predicted Score:

41-16 Huskers
