The Fessy Intermidiate football team is off to a great start. So far they are 2-0-1. Their two wins were against Dover-Sherbern 22-8, which was their season opener where the tough defense of the Fessenden Bears shut Dover Sherbern out of the game early. The opening drive was a touchdown dive around end to Jasen Voghel. The two-point conversion was converted by a powerful run by Mathew Barrow he got great push from Sam Goldberg and Robbie Warming. The second touchdown was a long run by Christan Gallegher with an amazing block from James Paolella springing him free. The extra point was converted by Jasen Voghel throwing a pitch-pass to Charlie Magnum. A perfectly called play. The Defense was very solid only allowing one touchdown. The last touchdown was a touchdown throw from Justen Voghel to Ben Rush who made an outstanding catch and beat the safety to the end zone. The Dover Sherbern offense tried throwing a couple deep passes but Tavis Simms and Alex Feye made sure that nothing got by them. The reason that the Fessy won was because of the amazing defense by Charlie Magnum who made crushing hits on running backs. The offense couldn’t get outside as well because of Connor Lenfest and Christan Gallegher.  The second game was against Brown. It was a tie 14-14. Fessenden had a few chances to score but failed. There was also a very questionable call on 4th down. This was not the best game by Fessy because of a lot of penalties. The most recent game was a 24-16 win over Fay. This was the best game that the Fessy team played, for every player had contributed. The Fessy Defense again was amazing forcing 4 players to visit the sideline because of injuries. These massive hits were forced by Matt Barrow, Jasen Voghel, and Chalie Magnum. Other punishing hits were made by Sam Goldberg, and Alex Koineg who played amazing with 4 tackles. The Fessy offence was created with a touchdown by Christan Gallegher, and Charlie Magnum had some nice catches. Fessy took the lead after a quaterback sneak. The onside by Jasen Voghel was recovered by Conor Lenfest. However Fessy fumbled and gave Fay a chance to score but Fessy’s tough defense didn’t give up and Fessy was victorious. The next game Fessy will travel to Belmont Hill and play a very good team. Coach Lyons said this game will show us were we are in the season.
Here is an interview where Mr. Lyons tells us about the season:

What do you think the team's biggest weakness is?
I’m not sure if it’s necessarily a weakness, but we are down to 17 players so we aren’t able to rest as many players as I could if the team was larger.

What do you think is the team's biggest greatness?
Our players have really worked hard.  I think our team’s succes can is directly related to the effort we put into practice.

When you play a team like Belmont Hill what is your approach to the gameplan?
Well, traditionally Belmont Hill is always a strong opponent.  You know that in order to execute any game plan against them your going to have to limit your mistakes.

In the past which team has Fessy struggled with if so? Why?
Probably our two toughest opponents recently have been Belmont Hill and St. Sebastians.  They have great coaches and great players.

From the first game what improvements has the team made?
As the season progresses, you learn what your team’s strengths and weaknesses are and you try to make the necessary adjustments to emphasize your strengths and to improve on those areas that need work.

How do you think the defense is doing? Why?
Well the best defense is one that never allows any points.  That’s hard to do but that is always our goal.  Right now we’ haven’t lost yet (one tie) so I guess we’re doing O.K

What has been the key to our success?
working hard usually leads to success regardless of what your doing.

Is there anything in partical that is unique about this team if so what?
Absolutely.  Every team has a unique personality.  Sometimes it takes a while to see a team's personality.  I would say one of the most unique things about this team is that everyone seems to be quietly determined.  We don't have many players who are loud or outspoken. This team seems to have players who work hard, get along with each other and everyone seems to be focused on the same objective.  At this point in the season our team leaders seem to be leading by example and actions.  I only hope that continues.
